Gymnastics classes are being planned at the Community Building in New Gloucester (381 Intervale Rd.)Monday Evenings 5:00-5:45pm  Gymnastics for kids PK-3rd Grade (Beginner)5:45pm-6:30pm Gymnastics, Advanced (Prerequisite: Straight Cartwheel and a backward roll)6:30-7:15pm Cheer Tumbling (Grades K-4)7:15-8:00pm Cheer Tumbling (Grades 5-8)Monday Mornings9:00-9:30am    2 - 3.5 year olds with parent involvement9:30-10am       3.5 - 4 year olds who can participate independently10:00-10:30am Open gymnastics- $5 drop in or register for all 6 weeks for $25Gymnastics is a great activity to build strength, balance, and flexibility while having a blast and meeting new friends!  Coaches will guide participants through warm-up, stretching and strength-building with a focus on proper technique.  These classes help build a solid foundation for any athletic pursuit, but especially cheering.In Gymnastics, athletes will work on body positioning, strength, tumbling, balance beam, and bars.  Cheer tumbling will focus on the progressions, strength and repetition of tumbling skills.  This is a great preparation/compliment for competitive cheering.What should we bring/wear?Participants may wear leotards or similar, but they are not required.  Form fitting clothing is helpful to avoid injuries while being spotted.  Hair should be tied up in a ponytail or bun.  Bring a waterbottle and an extra hair tie.SOP: If athletes or coaches are not feeling well, they should stay homeWe ask that only athletes are in the gym space during instruction.Please let us know if you have any questions!

The SOAR program is intended for 5th and 6th grade children and will provide an after school program, Monday thru Friday, from group 3 dismissal until 5:30pm. Parents will pick up at the GNG middle school by 5:30pm. Students will come to the SOAR classroom when group 3 dismissal occurs. 15 minutes will be given for snack and welcoming. At that time we will settle into 30 minutes of dedicated homework time, if no homework has been assigned we will spend this time reading. After the 30 minutes we will be outside!! We will utilize the basketball courts, ninja courts, upper and lower fields, Gaga pit, Libby Hill trails, sledding hill, outdoor classroom, etc!! We ask that your children come prepared to be outside! We also may have the opportunity to show support for the middle school sports teams or clubs at their home games/meets/performances etc., providing some school and community spirit! Two options are offered for the SOAR program. Full time after school care at $110 a week for the school yearDrop in full afternoon (must register in advance)- seats limited. $25 a day with Early Releases $40 a day.SOAR Expansion ProgramGNG Recreation's SOAR program provides care for all middle school students after school. To Help fill the gap during each season we are now offering SOAR Expansion. This program will be for middle school athletes and club members who need gap care before or after sports practices/games and club meetings. This care has a $25 non-refundable membership per season that must be signed up for before registering for any days.Families will then sign up for the days their student needs care before or after sports/clubs- this is $20 a day for gap coverage. Students will be responsible for walking between the SOAR classroom and practices/meetings unattended. Parents will pick up at the GNG middle school by 5:30pm. Students will come to the SOAR classroom when group 3 dismissal occurs. 15 minutes will be given for snack and welcoming. At that time we will settle into 30 minutes of dedicated homework time, if no homework has been assigned we will spend this time reading. After the 30 minutes we will be outside!! We will utilize the basketball courts, ninja courts, upper and lower fields, Gaga pit, Libby Hill trails, sledding hill, outdoor classroom, etc!! We ask that your children come prepared to be outside! Gymnastics classes are being planned at the Community Building in New Gloucester (381 Intervale Rd.)Monday Evenings 5:00-5:45pm  Gymnastics for kids PK-3rd Grade (Beginner)5:45pm-6:30pm Gymnastics, Advanced (Prerequisite: Straight Cartwheel and a backward roll)6:30-7:15pm Cheer Tumbling (Grades K-4)7:15-8:00pm Cheer Tumbling (Grades 5-8)Monday Mornings9:00-9:30am    2 - 3.5 year olds with parent involvement9:30-10am       3.5 - 4 year olds who can participate independently10:00-10:30am Open gymnastics- $5 drop in or register for all 6 weeks for $25Gymnastics is a great activity to build strength, balance, and flexibility while having a blast and meeting new friends!  Coaches will guide participants through warm-up, stretching and strength-building with a focus on proper technique.  These classes help build a solid foundation for any athletic pursuit, but especially cheering.In Gymnastics, athletes will work on body positioning, strength, tumbling, balance beam, and bars.  Cheer tumbling will focus on the progressions, strength and repetition of tumbling skills.  This is a great preparation/compliment for competitive cheering.What should we bring/wear?Participants may wear leotards or similar, but they are not required.  Form fitting clothing is helpful to avoid injuries while being spotted.  Hair should be tied up in a ponytail or bun.  Bring a waterbottle and an extra hair tie.SOP: If athletes or coaches are not feeling well, they should stay homeWe ask that only athletes are in the gym space during instruction.Please let us know if you have any questions!

At that time we will settle into 30 minutes of dedicated homework time, if no homework has been assigned we will spend this time reading. After the 30 minutes we will be outside!! We will utilize the basketball courts, ninja courts, upper and lower fields, Gaga pit, Libby Hill trails, sledding hill, outdoor classroom, etc!! We ask that your children come prepared to be outside! We also may have the opportunity to show support for the middle school sports teams or clubs at their home games/meets/performances etc., providing some school and community spirit! Two options are offered for the SOAR program. Full time after school care at $110 a week for the school yearDrop in full afternoon (must register in advance)- seats limited. $25 a day with Early Releases $40 a day.SOAR Expansion ProgramGNG Recreation's SOAR program provides care for all middle school students after school. What is Tai Chi?? An ancient chinese meditation that combines slow and deliberate movements, with breathwork, and mindfulness.  This ancient practice of moving meditation provides the tools you need to regain your balance; be it physical, emotional, or mental.  No experience is required, you won't even break a sweat.  Wear comfortable clothing. About our instructor, Louise Poppema:  Louise began her Tai Chi practice in 1991 with Gene Golden. Gene was a student of William C.C. Chen.   Louise continued continued her Ta Chi practice and study independently until she met Master Waysun Liao in 2004. Since then, she has continued to study with Master Liao and certified as a master. Master Liao was born in Taiwan, and trained as a child in the temple system. He was declared a Master at age 21 and came to the United States to teach, founding the Taichitao Center in Oak Park, Illinois. Louise has been teaching Tai Chi since 2004 through community programs in Gray, Falmouth, Auburn, Cumberland, and Yarmouth and is excited to share her practice in New Gloucester.

What is Tai Chi?? An ancient chinese meditation that combines slow and deliberate movements, with breathwork, and mindfulness.  This ancient practice of moving meditation provides the tools you need to regain your balance; be it physical, emotional, or mental.  No experience is required, you won't even break a sweat.  Wear comfortable clothing. About our instructor, Louise Poppema:  Louise began her Tai Chi practice in 1991 with Gene Golden. Gene was a student of William C.C. Chen.   Louise continued continued her Ta Chi practice and study independently until she met Master Waysun Liao in 2004. Since then, she has continued to study with Master Liao and certified as a master. Master Liao was born in Taiwan, and trained as a child in the temple system. He was declared a Master at age 21 and came to the United States to teach, founding the Taichitao Center in Oak Park, Illinois. Louise has been teaching Tai Chi since 2004 through community programs in Gray, Falmouth, Auburn, Cumberland, and Yarmouth and is excited to share her practice in New Gloucester.

What is Tai Chi?? An ancient chinese meditation that combines slow and deliberate movements, with breathwork, and mindfulness.  This ancient practice of moving meditation provides the tools you need to regain your balance; be it physical, emotional, or mental.  No experience is required, you won't even break a sweat.  Wear comfortable clothing. About our instructor, Louise Poppema:  Louise began her Tai Chi practice in 1991 with Gene Golden. Gene was a student of William C.C. Chen.   Louise continued continued her Ta Chi practice and study independently until she met Master Waysun Liao in 2004. Since then, she has continued to study with Master Liao and certified as a master. Master Liao was born in Taiwan, and trained as a child in the temple system. He was declared a Master at age 21 and came to the United States to teach, founding the Taichitao Center in Oak Park, Illinois. Louise has been teaching Tai Chi since 2004 through community programs in Gray, Falmouth, Auburn, Cumberland, and Yarmouth and is excited to share her practice in New Gloucester.

Coach Becky, of GNG Diamonds Cheering, is offering this introductory class for kids and their adults to learn about competitive cheering.  This program will teach cheering skills such as jumps, tumbling, stunts, and choreography.  Its a great opportunity to discover cheering without a full-season commitment.

GNG Junior Track (grades Pre K-2nd)Junior Track is for athletes entering PreK-2nd grade in the fall.  This group will meet once a week.  Junior Track Participants will learn and practice a variety of track and field events including sprints, hurdles, relays, long jump, softball throw (shotput), and turbo javelin.   Coaches will focus on helping participants improve technique, celebrate improvements and most importantly, have fun!!  The season will wrap up with a for-fun track meet experience for kids in the Junior Track program. What is Tai Chi?? An ancient chinese meditation that combines slow and deliberate movements, with breathwork, and mindfulness.  This ancient practice of moving meditation provides the tools you need to regain your balance; be it physical, emotional, or mental.  No experience is required, you won't even break a sweat.  Wear comfortable clothing. About our instructor, Louise Poppema:  Louise began her Tai Chi practice in 1991 with Gene Golden. Gene was a student of William C.C. Chen.   Louise continued continued her Ta Chi practice and study independently until she met Master Waysun Liao in 2004. Since then, she has continued to study with Master Liao and certified as a master. Master Liao was born in Taiwan, and trained as a child in the temple system. He was declared a Master at age 21 and came to the United States to teach, founding the Taichitao Center in Oak Park, Illinois. Louise has been teaching Tai Chi since 2004 through community programs in Gray, Falmouth, Auburn, Cumberland, and Yarmouth and is excited to share her practice in New Gloucester.
