Locations in both Gray and New Gloucester! We'll keep the kids busy with activities both in the Recreation Room and the Gym, eat dinner together, and end the night with a calm activity.  Pack your child dinner and we'll take care of the rest!

GNG Recreation is excited to bring back the gymnastics classes we’ve been missing this last year!  At this time, gymnastics classes are being planned at the Community Building in New Gloucester (381 Intervale Rd.)Monday evenings starting 9/205:00-5:45pm  Gymnastics for kids PK-3rd Grade5:45pm-6:30pm Gymnastics for kids 4th Grade and up6;30-7:15pm Cheer Tumbling for kids PK-3rd Grade715-8:30pm Cheer Tumbling for 4th Grade and up.Saturday Mornings starting 9/259:00-9:45am Gymnastics for PK-2nd Grade10:00-10:45am Gymnastics for 3rd Grade- 6th Grade11:00-11:45 Intro to Cheering PK-4th gradeGymnastics is a great activity to build strength, balance, and flexibility while having a blast and meeting new friends!  Coaches will guide participants through warm-up, stretching and strength-building with a focus on proper technique.  These classes help build a solid foundation for any athletic pursuit, but especially cheering.In Gymnastics, athletes will work on body positioning, strength, tumbling, balance beam, and bars.  Cheer tumbling will focus on the progressions, strength and repetition of tumbling skills.  This is a great preparation for competitive cheering.What should we bring/wear?Participants may wear leotards or similar, but they are not required.  Form fitting clothing is helpful to avoid injuries while being spotted.  Hair should be tied up in a ponytail or bun.  Bring a waterbottle and an extra hair tie.Our classes will follow distancing, sanitation, and face covering protocols as suggested by the CDC and Reopening Checklists as they roll out.  At this time, kids will wear masks upon entering and sanitize their hands.  Once Coach is ready for athletes and is ready to space them out, masks may be removed and only athletes will be allowed in the gym during the classes.  (Updated 9/2/21)If you have further questions about these protocols, please reach out. GNG Diamonds Cheer TeamGNG Diamonds is a competitive cheer program for kids in PK - 8th Grade and is in its 17th year of operation.  Athletes will receive instruction and training in dance, choreography, and cheering for approximately 16 weeks.  In a typical year, competition season would begin mid February and continue through March where the athletes would perform at competitions.  Going into fall 2021, the competition season is not yet certain.  Last year, the Diamonds competed in virtual competitions during the same timeframe.  As more information becomes available about competitions, we will be in touch.  It is important for the adults to know that this program is a competitive, team-based sport.  When athletes register, the expectation is that they attend all practices and also communicate illness in a timely manner.  Attendance at practice is for the individual and the team.  Participants should plan on Saturdays in Feb and March for competitions.  If you have questions about what the schedule will be, please call Becky at 926-4735.UNIFORMS:GNG Recreation will loan the uniform tops as needed.  Participants are required to purchase team sneakers (approx. $50) and shorts (approx. $20) and are asked to help with fund raising for team bows, socks, awards, and equipment.PRACTICE:Will begin at the Community Building in New Gloucester.  Our hope is to move our program back to its typical home at Memorial School, but that is not certain.  Our program is open to athletes from New Gloucester, Gray, and surrounding communities.  Pre-Season: Sept 21- Oct 26. ($55)One practice per week.  Allows for athletes to participate in other fall sports as well.  Competition Season: Nov 2-April 5 ($205)Two practices per week.  Attendance is expected and absences can affect the flow of the practice for the team.  Pre-Season is required to participate in competition season.*Scholarship funds are available through the Recreation Department and payment plans can be arranged by reaching out*

5:15 PM - 5:45 PM    Karate - Pre K - 1st Grade
GNG Recreation is excited to partner with Phoenix Academy of Martial Arts to bring more opportunities to learn martial arts to our community.  Karate is an activity that helps children develop humility, self-control, integrity, discipline, perseverance, and compassion.  Instructor, Jeff Chandler, obtained his black belt in October 2015.  After moving to New Gloucester, he started attending classes at Phoenix Karate Academy in Auburn, Maine.  He was challenged to learn a new discipline and Sosai Hary and Sosai Donna Harris welcomed him with open arms and they say, "The rest is history."  Jeff began teaching a wide variety of students from toddlers to adults.  In the summer of 2016, Jeff expanded and began offering classes to Rise and Sine Daycare in his backyard.  He believes that the discipline students learn through karate is helpful in everyday life.  He is excited to share his skills with more children in our community!Classes will be separated by ages and will be offered in both Gray at the Newbegin Gym and in New Gloucester at the Community Building.  Scholarships are available.5:15-5:45pm Beginner Karate for kids in Pre K- 1st Grade5:45-6:30pm Beginner Karate for kids in 2nd-4th Grade6:30-7:15pm Beginner Karate for kids in 5th Grade and up.There may be some adjustments to the times as we see which ages are most interestedWednesday evenings in Gray @ Newbegin GymThursday evenings in New Glocuester @ the Community Building

GNG Recreation is excited to bring back the gymnastics classes we’ve been missing this last year!  At this time, gymnastics classes are being planned at the Community Building in New Gloucester (381 Intervale Rd.)Monday evenings starting 9/205:00-5:45pm  Gymnastics for kids PK-3rd Grade5:45pm-6:30pm Gymnastics for kids 4th Grade and up6;30-7:15pm Cheer Tumbling for kids PK-3rd Grade715-8:30pm Cheer Tumbling for 4th Grade and up.Saturday Mornings starting 9/259:00-9:45am Gymnastics for PK-2nd Grade10:00-10:45am Gymnastics for 3rd Grade- 6th Grade11:00-11:45 Intro to Cheering PK-4th gradeGymnastics is a great activity to build strength, balance, and flexibility while having a blast and meeting new friends!  Coaches will guide participants through warm-up, stretching and strength-building with a focus on proper technique.  These classes help build a solid foundation for any athletic pursuit, but especially cheering.In Gymnastics, athletes will work on body positioning, strength, tumbling, balance beam, and bars.  Cheer tumbling will focus on the progressions, strength and repetition of tumbling skills.  This is a great preparation for competitive cheering.What should we bring/wear?Participants may wear leotards or similar, but they are not required.  Form fitting clothing is helpful to avoid injuries while being spotted.  Hair should be tied up in a ponytail or bun.  Bring a waterbottle and an extra hair tie.Our classes will follow distancing, sanitation, and face covering protocols as suggested by the CDC and Reopening Checklists as they roll out.  At this time, kids will wear masks upon entering and sanitize their hands.  Once Coach is ready for athletes and is ready to space them out, masks may be removed and only athletes will be allowed in the gym during the classes.  (Updated 9/2/21)If you have further questions about these protocols, please reach out. GNG Recreation is excited to partner with Phoenix Academy of Martial Arts to bring more opportunities to learn martial arts to our community.  Karate is an activity that helps children develop humility, self-control, integrity, discipline, perseverance, and compassion.  Instructor, Jeff Chandler, obtained his black belt in October 2015.  After moving to New Gloucester, he started attending classes at Phoenix Karate Academy in Auburn, Maine.  He was challenged to learn a new discipline and Sosai Hary and Sosai Donna Harris welcomed him with open arms and they say, "The rest is history."  Jeff began teaching a wide variety of students from toddlers to adults.  In the summer of 2016, Jeff expanded and began offering classes to Rise and Sine Daycare in his backyard.  He believes that the discipline students learn through karate is helpful in everyday life.  He is excited to share his skills with more children in our community!Classes will be separated by ages and will be offered in both Gray at the Newbegin Gym and in New Gloucester at the Community Building.  Scholarships are available.5:15-5:45pm Beginner Karate for kids in Pre K- 1st Grade5:45-6:30pm Beginner Karate for kids in 2nd-4th Grade6:30-7:15pm Beginner Karate for kids in 5th Grade and up.There may be some adjustments to the times as we see which ages are most interestedWednesday evenings in Gray @ Newbegin GymThursday evenings in New Glocuester @ the Community Building 
 
5:45 PM - 6:30 PM    Sports, GNG Diamonds Cheering - Competition Season, Chips (Grades 3-4)
GNG Diamonds Cheer TeamGNG Diamonds is a competitive cheer program for kids in PK - 8th Grade and is in its 17th year of operation.  Athletes will receive instruction and training in dance, choreography, and cheering for approximately 16 weeks.  In a typical year, competition season would begin mid February and continue through March where the athletes would perform at competitions.  Going into fall 2021, the competition season is not yet certain.  Last year, the Diamonds competed in virtual competitions during the same timeframe.  As more information becomes available about competitions, we will be in touch.  It is important for the adults to know that this program is a competitive, team-based sport.  When athletes register, the expectation is that they attend all practices and also communicate illness in a timely manner.  Attendance at practice is for the individual and the team.  Participants should plan on Saturdays in Feb and March for competitions.  If you have questions about what the schedule will be, please call Becky at 926-4735.UNIFORMS:GNG Recreation will loan the uniform tops as needed.  Participants are required to purchase team sneakers (approx. $50) and shorts (approx. $20) and are asked to help with fund raising for team bows, socks, awards, and equipment.PRACTICE:Will begin at the Community Building in New Gloucester.  Our hope is to move our program back to its typical home at Memorial School, but that is not certain.  Our program is open to athletes from New Gloucester, Gray, and surrounding communities.  Pre-Season: Sept 21- Oct 26. ($55)One practice per week.  Allows for athletes to participate in other fall sports as well.  Competition Season: Nov 2-April 5 ($205)Two practices per week.  Attendance is expected and absences can affect the flow of the practice for the team.  Pre-Season is required to participate in competition season.*Scholarship funds are available through the Recreation Department and payment plans can be arranged by reaching out*

Locations in both Gray and New Gloucester! We'll keep the kids busy with activities both in the Recreation Room and the Gym, eat dinner together, and end the night with a calm activity.  Pack your child dinner and we'll take care of the rest!
