Registration Opens March 10th
This year’s Leaders in Training (LIT) program is moving to New Gloucester! We will join the New Gloucester camp and staff as we discover all of the opportunities that the new recreation building has to offer!
As with previous years, you may choose which weeks work for your family’s summer plans or do all 8 weeks. We will require your LIT to attend 2 weeks of LIT camp if they intend on attending the final LIT field trip. (We are currently exploring the opportunity of turning our final trip into an overnight excursion…more to come on this as plans are finalized.)
The LIT experience is designed for rising 7th - 9th graders that want to have a summer of FUN, while learning leadership skills and participating in projects throughout the community. Leaders In Training program will help the teens gain skills, challenge themselves, and learn about ways they can contribute to their community.
We will really be working to immerse ourselves in the current recreation programming and expanding on our own LIT program this summer!
Our past activities have included-
- Bake Sales to fundraise for their final trip and the GNG Recreation Scholarship fund
- Hosting a corn hole tournament with their own hand crafted corn hole boards
- Built benches for the New Gloucester Fair Grounds and Story Boards for the Pennell Park trails.
This summer we will challenge our LITs to expand even further on these items and the impact that we can have within our community. Hosting and participating in a Maker’s Market? Maybe a community yard sale? More fundraising for the GNG Rec Scholarships? Volunteering to assist senior citizens within the community? Helping to design a year round teen program? The possibilities are endless and we cannot wait to involve our Leader’s In Training in every single one!
LIT Program Registration Options:
Full Summer: This option is all inclusive*; Two camp t-shirts, all field trips and project supplies. Program hours running 8-4 with option for LIT Campers to be dropped off as early as 7:30am and picked up as late as 5:30pm (before and after those hours will be incorporated with day camp- you must email LIT@graymaine.org for this option). $1800- $100 deposit due at registration.
Weekly rates: $225/week $30 deposit per week due at registration, with the camp shirt, field trip, and project supplies included weekly . Same hours as the full summer option.
*Please note that the final LIT field trip is still in the planning stages. White Water Rafting was our end of summer trip last summer and we are currently looking to expand this to a potential overnight trip. We will work to fundraise to cover this cost, however, there may be some additional nominal costs associated with snacks etc on the overnight trip.
10% sibling discount. If you have a child who is also attending Summer Day Camp in Gray or New Gloucester please email nlevier@graymaine.org to have the 10% sibling discount applied.
